Chastity Bono

Okay some of you remember when Chastity was little and appeared on the Sonny and Cher show. Well today's news is that she is going to have a sex change operation. Now I personally have really any opinion on it really. It's just....wow.

Thoughts anyone?

I remember her on that show. I'm with you, I don't have any real reaction other just to say, "hhmmm, interesting."

As long as she's happy that's the important factor. It's rather shocking only because she'd come on stage and was a little doll, guess I'd never thought of her as a man. As I always say whatever floats your boat.

I think it shocked me because she or should I say he is 40 years old. Unless this is something that he's been thinking about doing for a long time.

Then again, I remember watching a movie with Jessica Lange on cable about a married couple and he wanted to be a woman and she stuck by him through his operation and so forth. I don't think he was gay though. He just wanted to be a woman. Well then he would have become gay if he stayed with his wife. Man that's confusing. I can only imagine how they would feel....

Not to take this off topic but i've always wondered if you were a she or a he and got a sex change what would the state or goverment refer to you as? Are you a man or woman do they still call you like in the old days a he/she.....not trying to sound mean.... It just very confusing.... a friend of our family's talked about getting a sex change and opted out. Guess it can be emotionally draining for some.

Darn not enough coffee what was the name of the episode on CSI where they dealt with this same issue? Need to be awake before i post

I would think they would have a new identity and thus a new legal name. But who knows with the way the government acts with things....

wondering the same thing so I asked my lawyer friend and she said they would do like anyone else and got in front of the court for a name/ person change. It won't make them a man in the courts eyes cause of your birth certificate they can't change that part but they can change the name. She said it'd go from state to state depending on their laws. I thought this tid bit to be rather interesting.

They are way before your time, Sonny and Cher were a couple and they both had a TV show and at the end of the show they'd sing their song and bring their daughter out. This is the person we are chatting about it's Chastity Bono.

Cher Supports Daughter Chaz's Sex Change




Marking the first public statement since her daughter Chastity Bono -- now Chaz Bono -- announced that she was undergoing a sex change, Cher is coming out to lend words of support for her daughter.
Cher says that Chaz is going through "a difficult journey, but one that I will support," and says that she respects "the courage it takes to go through this transition in the glare of public scrutiny, and although I may not understand, I will strive to be understanding," in a statement to UsMagazine.com.

Cher continued with kind words for her daughter, saying that her support is infinite.
"The one thing that will never change is my abiding love for my child," Cher said in the statement.
TMZ was the first to report that Chaz Bono was undergoing a sex change from female to male. "Yes, it's true -- Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity," Bono's publicist Howard Bragman told TMZ.
"He is proud of his decision and grateful for the support and respect that has already been shown by his loved ones. It is Chaz's hope that his choice to transition will open the hearts and minds of the public regarding this issue, just as his 'coming out' did nearly 20 years ago," Bragman continued.

LadyH: Chastity Bono was born a female. Since deciding to become a male, she is now going by the name Chaz Bono and is basically living the "male" lifestyle in preparation for his operation. Thus the use of the male pronouns instead of the female...
